Hugo Rose, MW, Executive Director

With a career in wine spanning four decades, Hugo brings a wealth of valuable experience in all things fine wine.  A former director of Cellar&Co Ltd and of Lay & Wheeler Ltd, he has acquired an ingrained understanding of the fine wine world.

Hugo is a recognised expert on the top growths of Bordeaux and served as a judge for Decanter World Wine Awards for a decade. A graduate of Cambridge University in Economics, Hugo is a specialist in wine investment and is a former Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine.

Hugo's weekends are often spent in muddy two-wheeled bliss, entering classic trials on a Royal Enfield 350 of circa 1956.

Dan Lovedale, Commercial Director

Dan brings a deep and active understanding of the fine wine market, alongside a passion for rare Burgundy and Bordeaux.  Dan's professional venture into fine wine was a natural follow-on to some serious Claret and Hermitage exposure in youth, courtesy of his father, and more than a dabble in hobbyist fine wine trading.  After a wine-focused stint in hospitality and the ubiquitous Oddbins-management steppingstone, Dan progressed his vinous hobby and knowledge into the trading side of the fine wine market in 2012, working for a group of London-based wine funds.  Prior to Provinance, he was Head of Business Development for a then-new, UK fine wine business, subsequently spending five years working alongside Hugo as Trading Director for Cellar&Co Ltd, a multi-million GBP wine investment fund.

Dan is particularly well tuned into the rare wine market.  He has a wealth of European contacts and partners to help scour the market for scarce treasures, and a penchant for hunting out the best of the best for customer remits.

Outside of work, Dan is very much a family man, happily centred around his loveable daughter, Lily.  When Lily isn’t demanding complete attention, you can find him attempting to grow the tropically-almost-impossible in his greenhouse, scaling the roof of a DIY office from one of his many building projects, getting rained on in mid-Wales on the hunt for ceps, or happily traipsing through a rainforest in the tropics.

Tony Bell, Administrative and Logistics

After two decades running award-winning, country house hotels, Tony took the step across to the wine world when he joined Lay & Wheeler's En Primeur campaign team in 2000, before venturing on to managing their diverse National Events programme, until the Majestic take-over in 2009. He then went on to run a successful company providing food and wine matching dinners, presenting wine schools, and assisting his cousin make wine in the depths of Essex. Tony joined Provinance from Cellar&Co. to oversee the administration and logistics of the Company.

Outside of work, there's a good chance you’ll find him trying to tame his garden, hopelessly searching the rough for his golf ball or at the stove creating some culinary treat.

Hamid Nawaz-Khan, Chairman

An Actuary (now retired) by profession, Hamid has spent most of his actuarial career managing pensions businesses. Since 1990, he has managed SIPP & SSAS providers and in 2005 established his own business, Alltrust. A very sporty individual, he played cricket for his college, tennis and then squash for his club as No. 1 seed, in Bristol in the Avon National League Div 1. It was here that he was introduced to wine by a friend and a fellow club member who was a wine merchant. There was no looking back! A collector of fine wines from the major regions with a great passion for it. Also appreciates single malts, Armagnac and Cognac with more than a passing interest in vintage port.
